THE BOAT HOUSE, ALLAPEY, KERALA

BOAT HOUSE, KERALA
Flanked with a 600 km shoreline of the Arabian Sea, and Malayalam as it's official language, this southwestern state of India has more to offer than its acclaimed Ayurvedic massage and Boathouses.
St.Francis Church, Allapuzha

Aside from the romantic backwater Boathouse rides, you can look forward to explore the rich culture of the state.

Although located in the southern sector of India, Kerala has may churches, in comparison to the other states in India. Kerala boasts of French influence and also the resting place of the famous Vasco Da Gama. During my visit in June 2016, the church was due for a face lift and should have been completed today.

The back water cruise is relaxing and can be tailored to your luxury needs. You can opt for large boats that accomodate up to 30 pax or the luxury romantic cruises for 2. You will have your chef on board to cook your meals, just the way you want them.

We boarded the boat at Allapey and being a first timer, it was pretty amazing and cool to walk through various boat houses docked at the bay to finally reach that of your service

providers. It was really cool! Like you can walk through the halls and houses of others before arriving at yours.
Upon arrival at our own boat, as to your own house, we were asked to remove our shoes at the 'hall', where you have comfortable sofa sets and a television.
We took a tour around the boat, checking out the rooms and the spacious hall at the top floor of the boat. A long dinner table was laid across the hall and the drizzly weather upon our arrival was very welcoming.
We got to our room as the boat was slowly moving out of its bay. The journey through the evening was very laid back and relaxing as we glide through the backwaters of Allepey.
As the sun sets, the boat will then arrive to another dock where it recharges through the night. You will be able to enjoy the fresh seafood you have bought from the stalls by the banks along the way to the charging station.

Once you dock at the charging bay, you can take a walk along the village and also enjoy a village style traditional massage.

DINNER is served on board and you may unwind at the living area of your houseboat and call it a night.

If it is your first time in Kerala, remind the chef's not to add too much coconut milk as it is a famous ingredient in all Kerala dishes, unless of course if your tummy is up for it

As it gets later into the night, you may want to draw down the mosquito nets to keep them away.  They are available and attached by the sides of the boat.

The SUNRISE the following morning is a must catch as you will awake to the smell of tranquility and serene nature. It is an Insta worthy sight and you can sit out at the balcony for a short meditation or yoga on your own.
Our boat began sailing back at 6 am and we had scrumptous breakfast prepared by the Chefs on board.
