SUNSET HUNTING IN SANTORINI?


These blue capped roofs and white washed walls need no introduction – Yes! Welcome to the most celebrated and popular island of Greece – Welcome to the most beautiful islands in the world - Welcome to Santorini!
Not to be mistaken for its synonym, Santorini is also known as THIRA (THERA) among the Greeks – thus you absolutely safe if your flight lands at the Santorini (Thira) International Airport (JTR).
Fun Facts! Santorini airport is the eight busiest airport in Greece.  Located at the Eastern side of the island, the airport serves as a military and civil airport.

The capital of Santorini is FIRA (THIRA), situated on the west of the island, on the caldera cliffs, opposite the volcano. Wait, What? Another Volcano? Well brace yourself cause Santorini is a group of volcanic islands situated on the Aegean Sea.
Aside from the view of breath-taking caldera, the pristine blue roof buildings and the acclaimed best Sunsets, let’s explore what else the island has in store of you! 

While the entire island is known for its sunsets, the following spots have been acclaimed to be the best places to view the sunsets. Depending on the time of arrival, your hotel stay and duration – you can even choose to enjoy a streak of Sunsets in different locations, every day! Well, here’s a toast to these FIVE spots!

-          OIA : located a few kilometres from the capital. Embrace the palate of colours at this jaw-dropping spot.
Tips: As this is an acclaimed spot, it is highly recommended to arrive way before 5pm to find your favourite spot before the flood of tourists pour in.

-          The Akrotiri Lighthouse : Build in 1982, on the south west of the island (refer to the Santorini map above) is another favourite spot to catch a memorable Sunset.


 

-          Santo Wines Winery : Enjoy the magical sunset with a Glass of Wine.




-          Cruise : You can also catch the Sunset’s on a cruise for a fee of €38 (Albatross) with the tour ending in the middle of the sea at Oia.



-          Restaurants : Another option for a romantic sunset will be to book a spot
for two and welcome nigthfall. Here are a few options of Restaurants facing the Sunset – Sunset Ammoudi Traverna, Sunsets Restaurant and Alkyona Sunset.
